We at Gold Miner Pest Control want to wish everyone a happy and safe new year. In preparation for the new year, we want to give you a few tips on keeping your house or business pest free.
The first thing you want to do is take a walk around the perimeter of your home or business. Look for any possible entrance points for rodents or insects. Both will be looking for shelter from the winter weather, and if you can stop them now, you will have a lot less trouble in the spring. Inspect around the doors and windows for gaps. If you notice some space, replace the weather stripping (you can pick up new weather striping at your local hardware store for pretty cheap).
Then make sure you check for holes around A/C lines or heater lines where they enter into the house. These pipe entry holes are a common entrance point for rodents. Also check all the vents along your foundation and eves. Many times rodents will enter through these areas as well. If they are damaged or unsecured replace them and make sure they are a tight fit.
One of the easiest ways to fill openings is by using steel wool or spray foam. Rodents especially are not fond of steel wool.
