Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner would call this big guy “Raccoonus Gigantus!”  This bad boy was trapped in a Grass Valley, CA, customer’s back yard pool area!  He was busy trying to chew his way through the pool’s filter system to get at water.

Raccoons typically look for water to “wash” their food–there is much debate on this, it may have more to do with softening the food, or simply playing with it, or some believe they are checking the food for bone fragment,  the jury is still out.

But back to the big boy in the trap!   He weighed in at almost 40 pounds!  The trap has a 16″ opening and he barely fit, but he squeezed in there because he just couldn’t resist the egg and peanut butter treat we left for him.

This Grass Valley, CA, customer is happy to have her pool back for the summer!
